Ever noticed how you go to the store to just pick up one thing, then by the time you get back to the checkout aisle, you have five or six things in your cart and a bigger bill than you could have possibly anticipated This happens over and over again because department stores (and let's not forget that grocery stores use many of the same techniques) use an array of techniques to get you to pick up these items. By itself, each technique isn't very strong - it's the use of them in combination that is powerful. Here's a list of fifteen of the best tricks. If you begin in a rush, feeling frazzled and harassed, it's very likely that the rest of the day will go the same way-or worse. It's well worth a little planning and care to start each day well.
Confession time: I'm a cheapskate. Some would say frugal, which sounds much more positive, but in reality I can be a real cheapskate. I am fairly frugal (though not always), but sometimes I take it too far: I have T-shirts with holes in them, I never buy new clothes, we're shopping for a new couch because our current one has holes in it, and I ran my current pair of running shoes until the soles fell off. However, I have gradually learned to be frugal in many ways that I would recommend to others. I don't think you should have holes in your couch, and you should definitely replace your running shoes more often than I do, but there are many ways to cut back on spending and live a more frugal lifestyle.

14 Vote(s)

Sometimes gamer guys spend too much time studying game strategies and forget how to keep their girlfriends. I was browsing through bulletins on Myspace and came across this helpful list on how to keep a girl. It was posted by a fellow gamer, so of course it's a completely truthful list. If you guys go out there and actually attempt anything on this list, we are not responsible for the results. This is strictly for entertainment purposes and the actions should only be attempted by professionals like myself. I realize this isn't big gaming news, but it's Sunday and sometimes I just like to have fun with articles on slow weekends. If she happens to be a total psycho, then some of these things may actually work. If anyone ever needs advice on psycho girlfriends, I'm the guy to come to.
Even before I had some minor success with a couple of startups, I had moved from just below the poverty line to reasonable comfort, with a house, a year's expenses in savings, and no debt (other than a house mortgage). I've learned a few things, some in classes, some in the college of hard knocks. I've also had a little help along the way from relatives, some of it purely one-sided, and some of it mutually beneficial. I would like to pass on this information to those of you who are just getting started in life. (Some of this advice will be valuable to those of you who aren't just getting started in life, too.) The most valuable three hours I think I have ever spent was at a free financial planning class in Irvine in 1985. It was, quite literally, free. Yes, they were trying to sell us on paying for a more comprehensive class, but what I learned in those three hours, in retrospect, was worth $10,000 to me. What I learned there was freely given, and I give it to you freely as well.

11 Vote(s)

We use them as tools and toys to communicate, work, enjoy media, and be expressive. Being green with electronics doesn't mean living in a teepee listening to truckers squalk on the old short-wave. Greening your electronics is a matter of knowing what tech to get, how to use it best, and what to do with it when its useful life is done. Many of these best practices aren't things you'll read in the instruction manual, either. In this guide we'll tell you how to stop wasted energy, what gizmos are greener than others, and what to do about e-waste and electronics recycling.
